At the last day of blackhat on my way to lunch I passed by the registration hall where a 200 meters line of people was keep on growing, all are waiting to get their Defcon badge, I should have know back then what was expecting me at Defcon.
[Defcon Badge]
While BlackHat costs 1600$ for two days conference Defcon is only 100$ for three days.
This 1500$ difference hurdles in Mexicans, Americans, Indians, Israelis, Taiwanese, Chains, Japans, Koreans you name it they are all here. Your typical computer geeks, freaks and punks all mixed together but what the hell is an hard core black gangster is doing here?!
[Hacking .Net Apps by Jon McCoy, he was actually waving at me]
Unlike BlackHat Defcon is much more "lose" conference I'll try explain myself using an examples,
you see in almost every session we're presented with at least one demo, Today at the "Economics of Password Cracking in the GPU Era" session the speaker told us he couldn't get his demo working but he had prepared something else for us... so towards the end of his talk seven girls burst into a 2 minute pillow fight! something you'll never see in BlackHat. (Sorry I didn't catch a photo of this).
Another nice thing about Defcon is that not all assemblies are computer oriented; I've been to a talk given by a locks assessment company which displayed it work on four different locks manufactured by a Swiss company named "KABA". They had presented ways to break / unlock these locks and gain accesses to restricted areas, watching these demo videos was hilarious.
[Opening a "secured" door using a magnet, I know some of you recognize this lock! Please give it a try and let me know if it works]
Staying on the same note at Defcon they've got this tradition to invite FBI agents to talk and answer questions regarding their work, they call this session "Meet the FEDs".
I've entered the room a couple of minutes late, searching for a place to sit I've noticed an empty sit not far from the stage.
[Meet the Feds]
siting next to me was an Asian women, couple of minutes into the talk the speaker announced that we're gonna play a game, his going to call up to the stand four women from the crowed, one of them is a federal agent, we the crowed will need to identified the Agent using only four questions, at this point the asian woman got up and joined the other on stage, turns out i was sitting next to a FED.
While i'm not at the conformance i like exploring other hotels i hope you'll enjoy the photos:

Today me and Lior went to CycleGear to get the Scalc G4 headset this will enable us to communicate with each other will riding, it also has radio and it pairs with your smart phone using Bluetooth so it can play music and answer / make calls.
To get there we took Lior's bike (K1200GT), at this point I would like to apologize to all of you whom I've taken with me on the bike and wasn't easy on the throttle, I mean the way that bike throws you backwards as it accelerates is frightening.
Getting on a bike after a while made me impatient; I cannot wait till Monday to get my R1200RT.
It's 01:51 here so good night all.
PILLOOOOWWW FIIGHHTT :)
